To bed it goes

my piece of land in college park has gone to sleep. All has been removed besides the perennial herbs and the lovely clover cover crop. Oh clover is stunning. there should be a movement to make all yards clover. what a beautiful world it would be.

and as I lay to bed this wee piece of land there has been movement around land in baltimore. hope is in the air. i have found organic matter and high nutrients in baltimore vacant lots. they are spaces screaming to be farmed on. i think urban farming is stirring in my blood.

that clover bed is so luscious. . .one of these days we'll get ourselves organized to plant a fall cover crop. we even had two massive packages of seeds one year (vetch, maybe?) from seeds for change but we can never get our act together in the fall. good for you. . .it looks so great. . .i assume you'll plow it under right before it goes to seed?

no...we may cut it but most likely it wont flower before the first frost...then in the spring we will cut it and turn it in...don't worry someday when you don't have wee ones running around you will put a covercrop in, until then we all do the best we can:) it has been so fun reading some of your published works. I am so impressed by all you have been able to get done.
take care!

You never told me about the beauty of clover as a cover crop!!! That seems like it would be a lot more picturesque than oats!!! Oh well, I am in the same boat as Kimberly - the only difference is that I no longer have wee ones running around - my wee ones have all flown the coop and there are none to help sow the seeds (:>(((
