In celebration of my 29th year

I received this gift...carefully wrapped ...with my name spelled out multiple times on the gathered pieces of paper...that were securly taped together...this precious offering...to celebrate my birth. Books found...that were lovingly given...pictures drawn. this gift given out of complete joy...was one of the best gifts i have recieved. A 4 year old can teach us much. How to delight in celebrations...how to make this world a special place...on this 29th year i am filled with great joy...i am farming...oh there are the voices in my head which shout that i have not accomplished all the things I should have in life by now...I do not have a career...am not married...and do not even really have a definite direction for my life...but I am content...thrilled to be on this farm...surrounded by people who seranaded me a midnight...as we waited for chloe to give birth...(we are still waiting...after contractions and her even pushing...still no calf)...black beans made for lunch because they are my favorite...planting tomatoes in the field...one of my favorite tasks...and just lots of laughter...the world is incredibly good at times...I feel strangely rooted here...rooted to the land...

Thank you all for your love...your encouragement...your patience...for being my roots when i feel uprooted...

Katie,
I just spent the day with 10 and 11 year olds and I can tell you any gift from a child is worth its weight in gold! You have been a joy since you graced this earth. I love you!
